I. Academic Qualification

Candidates from OBC ‘Creamy Layer’ are not entitled to any reservation or age relaxation; their category will be considered as general.

Job Profile for SBI Bank PO

The probationary officer is recruited directly by SBI who are recruited on probation for 2 years. It is first entry point as officer in the bank. At the end of training, period Officers have to go through a screening process.

Those who achieve the predetermined standards they are confirmed and given placement as Officer Middle Management Grade Scale-II and those who qualify test but fails to achieve the standards they are placed as Officer Junior Management Grade Scale I.

Those who cannot qualify the test will be terminated. Once they are through with training they are placed either in branches or at the administrative office. A Probationary Officer is supposed to look after responsible jobs like passing the cheques, evaluating various loan proposals or even marketing for bank products.

The SBI PO exam is held in Three Phases

  • Online format
  • Multiple choice questions

    • a) Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.)
    • b) Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers
    • c) Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
    • d) Test of Reasoning (High Level)
  • Total 200 marks & 200 questions
  • Total duration of 2 hours
  • Negative Marking – 1/4 for each wrong answer
Descriptive Test
  • Online Computer Based
  • Maximum 50 marks and total duration of 1 hour.
  • Aimed to Test of English Language(Letter Writing & Essay).
  • Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
  • Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in the objective test.
Group Discussion & Interview – Phase – III
  • Group discussion (20 marks)
  • Interview (30 marks)
  • Only for phase I & Phase II qualified candidates

 

Selection Process of SBI Bank PO

The selection of SBI PO depends upon the performance of eligible candidates in examinations which are conducted in 3 Phases. The top performers in Phase I; who qualify in each of the three tests in phase I Preliminary exam by securing passing marks will be called for Phase II Main examination.

 

The number of candidates in each category; approx 20 times the numbers of vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Examination. The candidates are required to qualify for each of the Tests & Descriptive Test in Phase II by securing passing marks. The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. The number of candidates in each category will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.

 

Final Selection of SBI PO

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list

 

The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25.

 

The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

 

SBI PO Result

The result of the SBI PO of those candidates who have qualified for GD & Interview and get finally selected will be made available on the Bank’s website. The final select list will be published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar also.
